Steamboat Rock lies high and dry, offering excellent 360-degree panoramas of the landscape surrounding it. Jutting 800 feet out of Banks Lake in Washington’s majestic coulee country, Steamboat Rock is the crown jewel of this area.
Get to the Northrup Canyon trailhead early to see the squadrons of majestic birds flying out of the canyon as they head to the fishing areas of Banks Lake. The trail climbs into the canyon, which holds the only native forest in Grant County.
A trip around this loop is a step back in time to an era when trails built through rock were cut primarily with sweat and muscle. Granite step take you up the steep ravine to enjoy the amazing views.
